Chapter 13: UnDead Girl by Stephen Simpson

Genesis cleared her throat and said, “I hope the dorm is more colourful than this colourless hallway.”

Mya said, “Our room is really pretty. It’s amazing.”

“That’s good to hear.” Genesis felt as if she was at a disadvantage. Everyone had met each other the day before, while she was heavily sedated and passed out in a little science lab with a one-way mirror.

Amelia laughed an unpleasant sound which sounded more like a sneer. She hooked her arm into the crook of Eli’s arm.

Genesis glanced at her and met her cold blue eyes.

Amelia’s perfect face suddenly looked hateful and cold and not so pretty. Eli tried to move away from her, but she held on even tighter and if possible, her cold glare turned icy as if it wanted to penetrate Genesis’ skin and turn her already dead body into a frozen corpse.

Genesis just wanted to fit in. She wanted to be able to call this place home, so she kept her mouth shut.

The hallway led to a wider hall with pastel coloured doors on each side.

Mya said, “Genesis, you and I are in here.” She stopped in front of a pale green door.

Mya and Genesis walked into their room before Genesis turned to Mya and asked, “What’s with Amelia?”

“She’s… Well…” Mya was struggling with how much she should or should not say, as she turned to the door to close it.
